UNISA Online Application: Apply for 2025

If you’re planning to study at the University of South Africa (UNISA) in 2025, it’s important to understand the online application process.

When Can I Apply for UNISA in 2025?

For the second semester of the 2025 academic year, applications for admission to limited undergraduate qualifications are open from 14 April to 9 May 2025 .

This period is for new applicants, returning students changing qualifications, and those who previously applied but did not register.

Who Needs to Apply?

You must apply if:

• You’re a first-time UNISA applicant.
  
• You’re changing to a new qualification or specialisation.
  
• You previously applied but were not offered a space or did not register.
  
• You’re completing a higher certificate and wish to continue with further undergraduate studies 

How Do I Apply Online?

To apply online, follow these steps:

1. Visit the UNISA application page: www.unisa.ac.za/apply.
   
2. Choose the qualification level (Undergraduate, Honours, Master’s, etc.).
   
3. Complete the online application form.
   
4. Upload the required documents, such as your ID and academic records.
   
5. Submit your application before the closing date.

Ensure you have all necessary documents ready to upload during the application process.

What Happens After I Apply?

After submitting your application, UNISA will assess it based on your academic qualifications and the availability of space in your chosen programme.

If you meet the requirements and there’s space, you may be offered admission.

If your application is unsuccessful, UNISA will inform you and you can explore other study options.

What Is the First-Year Experience MOOC?

First-time applicants who receive an offer must complete the First-Year Experience Massive Open Online Course (FYE MOOC).

This free online course helps new students prepare for their studies at UNISA.

You won’t be able to accept UNISA’s offer without completing this course.

How Do I Accept an Offer?

If you receive an offer, you must accept or decline it within 10 working days. To accept the offer:

1. Complete the FYE MOOC.
   
2. Visit www.unisa.ac.za/acceptoffer.
   
3. Follow the instructions to accept your offer.

If you don’t accept the offer within the specified time, UNISA may withdraw it.

When Do I Register?

After accepting your offer, you can register for your courses. Registration for semester 2 of the 2025 academic year will open in June 2025.

You must register for the period for which you have been granted admission. If you don’t register for the 2025 academic year, you’ll need to re-apply during the next application period.
