UNISA Mylife: How to Use Your Email Account

If you’re a student at the University of South Africa (UNISA), your myLife email account is your main way to get important information from the university. 

This includes details about your courses, exam schedules, and results. It’s important to know how to use this email account properly.

What is a myLife Email Account?

Your myLife email is a free email account provided by UNISA to all registered students. The email address looks like this: studentnumber@mylife.unisa.ac.za. 

This is the only email address UNISA will use to contact you. Any emails sent from other accounts, like Gmail or Yahoo, will not be accepted by the university. 

How to Activate Your myLife Email Account

Before you can use your myLife email, you need to activate it. Here’s how:

1. Go to myUnisa.
   
2. Click on “Claim UNISA login”.
   
3. Enter your student number and personal details.
   
4. Follow the steps to set up your password.
   
5. Wait up to 24 hours for your myLife email account to be created. 

Once your account is ready, you can access it by clicking the myLife email button on the myUnisa homepage.

How to Log In to Your myLife Email

To check your myLife emails:

1. Go to http://mylife.unisa.ac.za.
   
2. Enter your full myLife email address (e.g., studentnumber@mylife.unisa.ac.za).
   
3. Enter your myUnisa password.
   
4. Click “Sign in”.

Your myLife email is powered by Microsoft 365, so you’ll have access to other tools like Word, Excel, and Teams. 

What If I Can’t Access My myLife Email?

If you’re having trouble logging in:unisa.ac.za

• Try resetting your password on the myUnisa portal.
  
• Make sure you’re using the correct email address and password.
  
• If problems continue, email MyLifeHelp@unisa.ac.za for assistance. 

Why Is My myLife Email Important?

UNISA uses your myLife email to send you:

• Exam schedules and results
  
• Course updates
  
• Important announcements

It’s your responsibility to check this email regularly.

Can I Use My myLife Email on My Phone?

Yes, you can set up your myLife email on your smartphone. Since it’s a Microsoft 365 account, you can use the Outlook app or your phone’s email app. 

Just enter your myLife email address and password when setting it up.

How Do I Keep My myLife Email Secure?

To protect your account:

• Set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). This adds an extra layer of security by requiring a code sent to your phone when logging in.
  
• Don’t share your password with anyone.
  
• Always log out after checking your email, especially on public computers.

What If I Forget My Password?

If you forget your password:

1. Go to the myUnisa portal.
   
2. Click on “Change Password” under “My Admin”.
   
3. Follow the steps to reset your password.

It may take up to 30 minutes for the new password to work with your myLife email.
